Valier “Joyce” Harris

CENTRAL CITY – We are sad to announce the passing of Valier “Joyce” Harris of Central City.  Joyce died at the age of 88 on Tuesday, April 23, 2024.  Joyce passed away at Tennova Healthcare in Clarksville, Tenn. with family at her side.  Born January 4, 1936, in Greenville and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Central City.  Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.  She spent many memorable years driving a school bus for Muhlenberg County Schools and she took pride in caring for those that she loved.

Joyce was preceded in death by her grandparents, John and Mattie Cox, and Doc and Bonnie Hardison; parents, James and Louise Cox; brother, Leonard Cox; and beloved husband, William “Billy” Harris.

Survivors include her son, Ricky (Denise) Harris of Central City; grandchildren, Melissa (Mike) Smith of Louisville and Jessica (Jason) Porter of Lexington; and cherished great-grandchildren, Noah and Jonah Smith, and Riley Kate and Harris Porter.

Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City, with Bro. Scott Milby officiating.  Burial to follow.  Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
