Joseph Leo Hagan, 83, died Saturday, November 13, 2021 in Cottontown, Tenn. under Hospice care with family at his side. A funeral mass will be Friday, November 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 403 Main St. Franklin, Kentucky 42135. Born and raised in Bremen, Kentucky, son to Miles Hagan and Panola Hagan. He was one of eight children and was preceded in death by his brothers Rudolph Hagan and Silas Miles Hagan, Jr.; his sisters, Elizabeth Hagan, Norma Hagan Harris, Gwendolyn Hagan.
He graduated from Bremen High school in 1957 where he played for the school’s basketball team. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He moved to Miami, Florida where he met his wife, Paula Hagan and they were married for 61 years. During that time, he enjoyed a very long career working for AT&T, BellSouth, and Miami-Dade County. Joe also founded Joseph L. Hagan Real Estate and sold houses in South Florida for 40 years. Joe was a fan of the Miami Dolphins and enjoyed rooting for his team even during the long decades drought since their perfect season in 1972. A lifelong fan of the Kentucky Wildcats basketball, he enjoyed watching the Wildcats conquer their adversaries. After he retired, he moved to Cottontown, Tennessee in 2007 which gave him the opportunity to enjoy a well-deserved retirement admiring horses and a relaxed pace after spending 50 years in the “big city”. Grandpa Joe will be much missed and fondly remembered by his large family.
Joe is survived by his loving wife, Paula Hagan; daughter, Anya Pence (Jack); daughter, Manon Hagan-Stevens (Tim); son, Sean Hagan (Jackie); daughter, Kera Hagan (Derek); and son, Kevin Hagan (Monica). He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild: Brian DeGrange, Kera Ann DeGrange, Shauna Stevens, Sierra Stevens, Scott Stevens, Shane Hagan, Liam Hagan, Brandon Hagan, Diana Ardila, Emily Brown, Ryan Brown, Aiden Hagan, Daniel Hagan, and Penelope Ardila; sisters Ramona Hagan Smith (Paul) and Mary Belle Hagan Gossett.
