CENTRAL CITY – Nathaniel Derek Smith, 47, of South Carrollton, died Sunday, May 8, 2022, at his home. Born November 19, 1974, in Hopkins County, he was a member of Church Street General Baptist Church. He was disabled from a car accident in 1999. He enjoyed golfing with his friends, working at the flea market, racing motor cross, watching the Miami Dolphins, and spending time with his daughter, grandson, and family. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Mynette Dennis, and Charles and Janet Schmidt; paternal grandparents, Jack and Ruby Rickard, and Gene Smith; and uncle, Richard Schmidt.
Survivors include his daughter, Paige Smith of Nortonville; father, Derek Smith of Central City; mother, Marsha Smith of Central City; sister, Nicole Harris of Nashville; grandson, Zachary Hughes; aunts, Kenwyn Rickard and Linda Vincent; uncles, Ronnie Smith and Mark Schmidt; nieces, Tatum Harris and Rusti LeeAnn Harris, and great-niece, Indi Grist, several cousins.
Funeral services will be Friday, May 13, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Danny Greene officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens in Powderly. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family would like to say a special thank you to Baptist Health Deaconess Hospice Care.
