Corrinna “Faye” Newman

Corrinna “Faye” Pendley Newman, 87, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024.  She lived independently until a change in health in July last year.  “Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:57 NKJV

Faye was born in Greenville where she loved family, raised children, and spoiled grandkids.  Known as Nannie by grandchildren and great grandchildren, she had a special place in her heart for her family.  Known as Aunt Faye by nieces and nephews, and extended family, she was happy to share stories about her generation and those that preceded us.  Faye was a stylish dresser and loved to wear hats to church on special occasions.  Back in the day you might see her driving a boat at Lake Malone pulling water skiers or, perhaps, on the family farm helping with goats or whatever was happening that year.  Most of all she loved time with family and friends.

Born June 15, 1936, in Muhlenberg County, she was preceded in death by her husband Marl Thomas Newman, her parents Lester and Maggie Pendley; in-laws L.D. and Mary Newman, her brothers and sisters John Smith, Josie, Elwood, Dorothy, and Nancy, and her grandson Phillip.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law Greg and Lisa of Greenville and Jeff and Susan of Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren Steven, Nathan, and wife Jessica, and Marl “Thomas” II and wife Megan, granddaughter-in-law Ana; great grandchildren Addie, Eli, “Della” Corrinna, Olivia, and Philippa “Pippa”; brothers- and sisters-in-law Steve and Debbie, and Bud and Marilyn Laster; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

A time of gathering and visiting with family and friends will be Saturday, January 6, 2024, at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.  A celebration of life service officiated by her grandsons Chaplain, Captain Nathan Newman and Pastor Thomas Newman will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s.  Burial will be at Carter Creek Cemetery next to her beloved husband, Marl, immediately following the service at Gary’s.  The family knows “Mom, Nannie, Aunt Faye, Faye” is at peace.  She will be dearly missed here on Earth, but we know she was warmly welcomed in Heaven.  Faye is having a big family reunion now.  We thank God for the gift of her life and the love she had for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Faye and Marl Newman to the Carter Creek Cemetery Fund.
