CENTRAL CITY – Bobby Joe Sallee, 88, of Central City died Monday, May 22, 2023 at 1:43 a.m. at his residence. Born September 9, 1934 in Muhlenberg County, he worked in Shovel Operations as a coal miner for the River Queen Peabody Coal Mine. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed his church on the river and spending time with his closest friends. He was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Cassy Day, Penola Gray, Claire Lee Frances, Irvin Sallee, Sherman Sallee, James Sallee, Truman Sallee, Donald Sallee; parents, Harlan Floyd Sallee, and Fannie Pearl Sallee; and children, Billy Ray Sallee and Bobby Joe Sallee, Jr.
Survivors include his daughters, Josie Welborn, Jennie Carter, Jody (David) Shelton; grandchildren, Shea (Barry) Davis, Terri Jo Carter, Andrew Thomas Welborn, Melissa Renee’ Strode (Manuel Keith); great-grandchildren, Jake, Nolan, Sadie Rhea, Pressley Ja, Mallory, Masen; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Jerry Frances officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
