Andy Beshear wins a second term as governor in Kentucky, the Associated Press is projecting at 8 p.m. on election night. All other statewide races are projected to go to the Republican candidates.
Republicans swept the local electorate in the Nov. 7 general election for statewide offices. Vote totals in Muhlenberg County show strong support for the party here.
Muhlenberg countians voted 54% for Daniel Cameron and 46% for Andy Beshear, with 4,419 votes cast for the Republican Attorney General Cameron and 3,833 cast for Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear.
Statewide, Beshear beat Cameron, with 53% of the vote, compared to 47% for Cameron. Offices for Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor, Treasurer, and Commissioner of Agriculture were all won by the Republican candidates, most with around 62-66% of the vote.
Voter turnout statewide in this off-year election was 32% at the time of this reporting, with 102 of 120 counties completed. In Muhlenberg County, turnout was a bit higher, at 37%. Of the 22,400 registered voters in the county, 8,289 cast ballots in this election.
