CENTRAL CITY – Perry Forrest Hill, 90, of Central City, longtime and beloved principal of Muhlenberg Central High School, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at 10:20 p.m. at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born August 27, 1933, to Perry Willoughby Hill and Ione Mable Grace Hill, Perry grew up in Muhlenberg County before joining the US Army and then graduating from the University of Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn.
Mr. Hill will be remembered by family, friends, colleagues and students as a kind soul who brought out the best in others, always looking out for others before himself. For over 30 years, education was his passion and his calling, with students recalling the impact he had on their lives decades after graduating.
Survivors include his son Stanley Hill of Central City; sisters Sharron Jessup and Beverly (Eddie) Underwood; niece Mindy Jessup (Hal) Hedley; nephews Troy Underwood and Nicholas (Lauren) Underwood; and hundreds of former students who were profoundly impacted by Mr. Hill as a teacher, coach and principal.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 10, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City. Burial will follow in Lone Star Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
