DRAKESBORO – Marlene Whitmer, 92, of Drakesboro, died Saturday, April 9, 2022, at Brighton Cornerstone Healthcare in Madisonville. Born March 7, 1930, in Logan County, she was a homemaker and member of Maple Grove General Baptist Church. She loved her entire family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting in her earlier years. She loved her church and serving her Lord above all else. She was preceded in death by her husband, Shelby Whitmer; parents, Floyd and Thelma Pogue; five brothers; one sister; granddaughter, Amanda Whitmer; great-grandson, Brock Revo; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Whitmer.
Survivors include her sons, Jerry Wayne Whitmer of Browder and Ricky Lee (Angie) Whitmer of Central City; daughter, Doris Ann (Jerry) Knight of Greenville; grandchildren, Scott (Andrea) Whitmer, Craig (Jaime) Hardison, Phillip Whitmer, and Jennifer (Chris) Scharfenberger; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; brother, Bobby Curtis Pogue; sister, Sherrill Harbison; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be Thursday, April 14, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. at Old Jackson Cemetery in Greenville, with Bro. Jerry Francis officiating. Visitation will be Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home.
