Elmer R. Wright, 90, of Coshocton, Ohio passed away at Lafayette Pointe Nursing Home on Tuesday November 29, 2022. Born January 4, 1932 in Greenville to the late William E. and Grace (Evitts) Wright. In his early years, he was a Farmer, worked at Peabody Coal Company and owned a Sharpening Shop at his home.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War where he received the Purple Heart. Elmer was a member of Chili Crossroads Church, Coshocton Sportsman Club, and life member of Korea War Veterans, AMVETS #36, American Legion #65, VFW #1330, NRA, Purple Heart Club, DAV, Eagles Lodge #761 and PGA Golf Club He was also an active member of the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard where he honorably participated in 600 Military Honor services. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings HortenseWright, Helen Wagner, William, Don and Clyde Wright.
On July 4, 1966, Elmer married the love of his life, Marjorie (Mathias) Wright who survives; also surviving is a daughter Vickie R. (Steven) Bryan of Coshocton; grandchildren Billie Jo Bryan, Craig and Michael Bryan; siblings Veachel(Jo) Wright of Ky. and Brenda Kay (Jerry) Nelson of Tenn.; brother-in-law Jim Wagner; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at The Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Thursday December 1, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where funeral services will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Mark Granger officiating. Interment will follow in South Lawn Cemetery with the Coshocton County Veterans Honor Guard performing Military Honors.
