Wilburn Burdette Fox, 88, of Central City, passed away peacefully Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Maple Manor Health Care in Greenville. Born in Burnsville, N.C. to the late Jim and Lizzie (Cordellia) Fox. He was a Navy Veteran serving in Korea and superintendent with Greenville Rock Quarry and later with Vulcan Materials. In addition to his parents, Wilburn is preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Faye (Hughes) Fox; daughter, Joyce Ann Fox; son, Danny Lee Fox; three brothers, Tamage Fox, James “Junior” Fox, and Phillip Fox; and four sisters, Irene McIntosh, Nina Winters, Maude Gibbs, and Nell Black.
Those left behind to cherish Wilburn’s memory are his two sons, Tony Fox (Kathy) of Central City and Larry Fox (Della) of Russellville; two daughters, Patsy Dyke (David) of Greenwood, S.C. and Shelia Fox (Linda) of Beechmont; a sister Wanda Hughes (Herman) of Burnsville, N.C.; six cherished grandchildren, Shannon, Charlie Mack, Jonathan, Trevor, Ashley and Hunter; and six precious great grandchildren, Dylan, Logan, Allie Brooke, Tinley, Teagan, and Tyla.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, March 28, 2022 in the chapel of Westmorland Funeral Home in Marion, N.C. A funeral service to celebrate Wilburn’s life will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Those serving as pallbearers will be Trevor Fox, Jonathan Fox, Shannon Adams, Charlie Mack Adams, Logan Adams, Paul Hughes, and Burdette Smith
