In her career, she was an accomplished baker, with the gift of creating beautifully decorated cakes. She spent the last 13 years of her life residing in Western Kentucky, much of that time spent in Greenville.  At the time of her passing, she was a resident of Madisonville Health and Rehabilitation Center in Madisonville.  Ms. Thomason went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after an acute illness and, surrounded by loving family, perished at the age of 67 at ContinueCARE Hospital of Baptist Health Deaconess Hospital in Madisonville. She loved fashion apparel and was known for her signature accessories, which included a wide array of hats. She was often referred to by her friends as “Fancy Nancy” as she took great pride in her appearance and was always the first to pass out compliments on how nice others looked.

Nancy was a loyal fan of the Crimson Tide, and nothing else much mattered when the University of Alabama was playing football. She liked to draw and paint, and, although she would never agree, she really was quite good. She loved music, with Stevie Nicks and Patsy Cline topping her favorites list.  She was a great cook and made celebrations more special with her delicious food and beautifully decorated cakes. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and “Elf” was the season’s must-watch movie. She enjoyed gardening. She always found the silver linings and made others feel important. She was always content and celebrated the small blessings with as much vigor as the giant ones. Nancy was generous and she was truly the sweetest ray of sunshine.  She leaves a legacy of love for her family and friends.

Tucker Funeral Home of Central City, KY, and Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens of Florence, Alabama, are handling the care of Ms. Thomason.  There will be a graveside service at 2 p.m. on Friday, April 19, 2024, at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens in Florence, Ala.. Due to her own mobility challenges, Ms. Thomason always wanted to start her own non-profit to help provide shoes to those in need.  In honor of Nancy, expressions of condolences can be made via donations to the Muhlenberg County Happy Feet Equals Learning Feet, C/O Muhlenberg County Board of Education at 510 W. Main St., Powderly, Kentucky 42367, attention Kim Latham. Roll Tide!
