BELTON – Ganetta “Kay” Joines Covington, 77, of Belton, died Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at 2:25 p.m. at her residence. Born January 2, 1947, in Greenville, she was a homemaker, a cook at schools and the IGA, and worked at daycares. She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with her children and grandchildren, birdwatching, making ceramics, and going to church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ronnie Covington; parents, Obba and Geneva Joines; brother, Rondell “Rod” Joines; brother-in-law, Eddie Bowers; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Wesley and Zella Covington; and brother-in-law, Randall Covington.
Survivors include her daughters, Tonya Ewing and Marla (Eric) Woodward; grandchildren, Courtney Ewing, Hunter Woodward, and MaKayla Woodward; sister, Gina Bowers; brother, Butch (Donna) Joines; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved dog, Thumper.
Funeral services will be Friday, April 5, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Jeremy Whitney officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church.
