Bareth (Barry) Lynn Franklin, 87, of Bloomington, Ind. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, September 22, 2023. Born October 3, 1935 in Freedom, Ind. to Woodrow (Woody) and Althea (Maners) Franklin. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Janet Sue Franklin
Barry graduated from Freedom High School in 1953. He married Sue Franklin on January 31, 1964. He was a loving husband, dad, papaw, uncle, friend and mentor who will be missed. He enjoyed keeping up with the stock market, playing basketball and golf, watching sports, cheering on the Hoosiers and being a snowbird in the winter. His career spanned three decades with Wetterau/Supervalu starting in 1963 and retiring June 1994. He began as a truck driver and served in increasingly responsible positions in computer operations and buying, working his way up through the company to earn the title of Senior Vice President in 1992 until his retirement in June 1994.
Survivors include his daughter Jennifer Allen (Mark) of Clarksville, Tenn.; stepson Michael Sauers of Indianapolis, Ind.; seven grandchildren, Abigail Allen, Olivia Allen, Katherine Allen, Madelin Allen, Sophia Allen, Erin Sauers and Sarah Sauers; 10 great-grandchildren; nephew Randy Pinkston; niece, Tracy Sexton; great-nieces, Alexandra and Whitney; and great-nephew, Nick.
Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 27, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at West and Parrish and Pedigo Funeral Home, 105 N. Montgomery Street, Spencer, Indiana with Randy Pinkston officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery in Spencer Ind. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
