Sharron F Pickett, 79, who resided in the Victoria, TX her last five and a half years, passed away Wednesday June 12, 2024. Born July 7, 1944, at Hopkins County Hospital. She was the first child of Samuel Sherman Ferguson and Virginia Lucretia Garst whom both have preceded her in death. She was the older sister of Jacqueline Ferguson who was born March 27, 1948, who survives her. Sharron Kay spent most of her adolescent years in and around Central City, Island, and Sacramento, Kentucky where her immediate family resided. She graduated from Central City High School, Completed Registered Nursing school, and then married Joel Larry Pickett. She had a successful nursing career while being the consummate, supportive wife, and mother. Her and Joel would have two children, Virginia Lucretia Pickett who has preceded Sharron Kay in death and Joel Stewart Pickett who survives her. Sharron Kay was a big reason for all our success. She was from a time when vows meant something. She was loyal and constant in all our lives. From speaking with her, she learned from her mother Virginia’s example, the person she loved and missed the most. If you had a chance to meet Sharron Kay, you know she was a sweet, courageous woman who forged
through the tough times with a smile and smiled brightly during the good. She would help us learn that what we were going through or why things happened was, “just life” and we keep our head up and do the best we can. She always did, during her most unhealthy, challenging times, displaying grace until the end.
The last several years of Sharron Kay’s life was spent with her son Stewart and her grandson Elijah Harrison Pickett in Victoria Texas. She missed Joel, Mama, Ginny, and her family back home, but she loved our home, our pets, her chair and all the love we shared. “I love you” was said often and heartfelt in our home. As her health became more challenging her strength helped us grow and come together. Sharron Kay touched our lives and is missed so much. We are planning to honor her back home in Kentucky in the future. In leu of flowers or gifts, donations are appreciated to Venmo @JoelStewart-Pickett
