Gregory “Greg” Dennis Martin

GREENVILLE – Gregory “Greg” Dennis Martin, 71, of Greenville went “home” to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. Born in Greenville on October 17, 1952 to Guy and Rose Martin.

Greg was a member of Second Baptist Church. He loved the Lord and his church and served faithfully all his life.

Greg was a 1970 graduate of Greenville High School. He had a 30-year career with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) as well as several earlier jobs in his life including a civilian radio repairman for the Army, a paramedic for the ambulance service and operated a Radio Shack store in Greenville. Greg was also a volunteer fireman for 50 years. In retirement, he and his wife worked with Kentucky Changers ministry for 9 years.

Greg was a loving husband, beloved brother, and faithful friend. He had an easy laugh and a quick wit. He was kind and never met a stranger. He loved to travel. The Smoky Mountains were a favorite destination. Some but not all places that Greg traveled during his life included: the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, Panama Canal, Europe, and Israel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Dennis Martin Jr., and Rose Marie Dunn Martin; first wife, Lynn Harper Martin; and father-in-law, Paul Denney.

Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Donna Duncan Martin; brothers, Keith Martin, and Tommy (Carlene) Martin; son, Neil (Laura McElvain) Martin; step-son, Jeremy Howe; grandson, Simon Gregory Martin; step-granddaughter, Teela Gene Howe; nephews, Jon Martin, Brandon Martin, Justin Martin, Logan Martin, and Joshua Martin; cousins, Susan (Woody) Lamar, Martha Nolan, and Joe Nolan; mother-in-law, Norma Denney; and many other friends and family.

Funeral Services will be Sunday, July 7, 2024 at 4 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Bob Thurman officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10 a.m.. Visitation will be Sunday, July 7, 2024 from 12-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
