William Harold Groves, 92, of Greenville, died Tuesday, May 11, 2021 at Baptist Health Hospital in Madisonville. Born June 7, 1928 in Muhlenberg County, the son of Harvey Groves and Lonnie Wells Groves. He was a UMWA coal miner and a member of New Cypress Baptist Church. Mr. Groves enjoyed working on clocks and was known as “the clock man”. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers Milton, Lee, and Bernie Groves.
Survivors include his wife of 74 years, Vonda Vincent Groves of Greenville; daughter, Diann (John) Anderson of Elberfeld, Ind.; grandsons, Wes (Debbie) Finley of Poplar Bluff, Mo. and Jonathon Brett (Amy) Finley of Greenville; great granddaughter, Hannah Finley of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; sisters, Mildred Yates of Madisonville and Mary Taylor of Henderson; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be Thursday, May 13 at 1:00 p.m. at New Cypress Cemetery in Greenville. Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences to the family may be made at www.garysfuneralhome.net
