LEOLA LORRAINE STRAIT, 92, died Friday, March 5, 2021, in Conroe, Texas Born Oct. 28, 1928 in Sherman Township, Ottawa County, Kans. to George E. Harrison and Vola McGowan. After graduating from Minneapolis High School, she married Richard L. Strait of Tescott, Kans. on May 31, 1947 and made their home in Oklahoma City, Okla. where they operated a Phillips 66 service station near the state capitol for 40 years. Mrs. Strait worked as a bookkeeper for the family’s business and earned an Associate’s Degree in Art from Oklahoma City Community College in 1983. She was an active member of Lambuth United Methodist Church, enjoyed traveling to historical sites throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico, and loved oil painting, arts and crafts, and bowling. After retirement in 1995, the Straits moved to Central City, to be near their son Rick and granddaughter Jennifer. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Strait and son Rick Strait of Central City.
Survivors include her daughter Linda and (Patrick) Garner of Spring, Texas; granddaughters Dr. Gina (Charles Winter) Garner of The Woodlands, Texas and Jennifer (Brad) Scarbrough of Central City; grandson Grant Garner of Spring, Texas and great-grandchildren, Gavin Winter and Abygayle Garner.
A graveside service will be held this summer in Oklahoma City. The family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Lorraine’s name be directed to the American Cancer Society.
