LeDorie Ernestine Tate, 96, of Evansville, passed away Monday, May 3, 2021 at Garden Villa Nursing Home in Bloomington, Ind. Born June 2, 1924 to Ernest Bean Sr. and Mary LeDorie (Vinson) Bean.
Ernestine attended Bevier-Cleaton High School in Cleaton, Kentucky. There she met the love of her life and married Ardice Tate in May 1942. Since there were no cell phones during World War II, Ernestine and Ardice would pray each evening at 8 o’clock. This way they were together while being separated. Ernestine was a woman of strong faith. She attended Heritage Baptist Church, in Evansville, where she taught Sunday School classes and attended Women’s Prayer Groups. Ernestine was quick to share her faith with everyone she met. She retired at the age of 65 from The Baby Shop. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ardice Tate; daughter, LaQuita Darlene Phelps and her brother Rev. Ernest Bean, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter, LeDorie (Robert) Schulz of Oak Lawn, Ill.; son, Richard (Lou Ann) Tate, of Bloomington Ind; 7 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. CDT on Monday, May 10, 2021 at Alexander East Chapel, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, in Evansville, officiated by Pastor Alan Jackson with a Graveside Service to follow at 1:30 p.m. CDT at Rose Hill Cemetery in Central City. Friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. CDT until service time at the funeral home. LeDorie’s service will be livestreamed beginning at 10:45 a.m. CDT.
