CENTRAL CITY – James David “Jimmy” Burden, 77, of Central City, died Monday, September 7, 2020, at 4:45 p.m. at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Born March 29, 1943 in Muhlenberg County. He was a retired coal miner and logger. He loved his family, being a cowboy, the Green River, and country music. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonnie and Pansy Burden, Sr.; brother Billy Burden and sisters Betty Thompson and Jean Mackey.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Harper Burden; daughter Sherry France; grandchildren Ashley (Jesse) Vincent and Whitley (Matt) Howland; great-grandchildren Tricycle “Tryson” Settle, Pickle “Taelyn” Settle, Cowboy “Tripp” Settle, Little Mac “McKenna” Howland, and Smoky Joe “Sawyer” Vincent; and brother Sonnie (Dana) Burden, Jr.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 9, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Bro. Mike Neal officiating. Burial will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday after 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends who are attending the visitation or funeral service are asked to wear a face mask for the safety of all those in attendance, in accordance with the governor’s mandate.
