Janet Sue Franklin, 81, of Bloomington, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born December 1, 1939 in Switz City, Indiana to Arthur Samuel and Wilma Virginia (Frye) Gerkin. She graduated from Martinsville High School. She married the love of her life Barry Franklin on January 31, 1964. Janet was a member of the Lifeway Baptist Church in Ellettsville and the Quilting & Sewing Club. She loved spending time with her family and traveling to Florida each year. She enjoyed bible study, gardening, bowling, being outdoors and staying active. Janet was always very social and had many friends she enjoyed talking with she never met a stranger and her infectious personality, smile, and laughter lit up a room. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who will be missed.She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister Linda Pinkston.
Survivors include her husband, Barry Franklin of Bloomington; son, Michael Sauers of Indianapolis, Ind.; daughter, Jennifer Allen (Mark) of Clarksville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Erin, Sauers, Sarah Sauers, Abigail Allen, Olivia Allen, Katherine Allen, Madelin Allen and Sophia Allen; eight great-grandchildren; niece, Tracy Sexton; nephew, Randy Pinkston; great-nieces, Alexandra and Whitney; and great-nephew, Nick.
Funeral service will be Monday, May 3, 2021 at at 1:00 p.m. at the Lifeway Baptist Church with Pastor Steve VonBokern officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Spencer. Visitation will be held Monday at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her honor to Lifeway Baptist Church Missions.
