GREENVILLE—Glendel Ray Bivins, 90, of Greenville, died Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born on January 17, 1934 in Muhlenberg County, the son of the late Alvin Ray Bivins and Dude Marie Dukes Bivins. He had worked in construction as a roofer, loved spending time with his family, mowing, and going out to eat at Long John Silver’s, Catfish Dock, and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
He was preceded in death by his wife Patsy Ann Bivins in 2003 and four brothers Paul Ray Bivins Donald Gerald Bivins, Darrell Faye Bivins, and Freddie Junior Bivins.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Shelby Latham officiating, assisted by Rev. Jerry Sweeney. Burial will follow in Landmark Cemetery in Greenville, KY.
Survivors include his companion—Josie Knight of Clifty; four daughters—Margaret Hope of Greenville, Wanda (James Luttrell) Dorman of Lewisburg, Brenda (Donald) Key of Dover, Tenn., Lois Markwell of Lewisburg; one son Jerry (Tambra) Bivins of Dunmor; six grandchildren; eight great grandchildren three sisters Lucille Willis of Greenville, Louise Morris of Greenville, and Linda Shelton of Elkton.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 23 from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
