BELTON – Margaret Ann Mayes, 81, of Belton, died Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2:30 p.m.. Born June 11, 1942 in Muhlenberg County. She was the owner/operator of Mayes Sanitation and Papaw’s Pizza, and a member of New Hope General Baptist Church in Lewisburg. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed her “little get-aways” with her three daughters, tending to flowers, shopping, and watching her hummingbirds. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan Mayes; parents, Johnny and Laura Cartwright; son, Timmy Mayes; sisters, Anna Meryl Cartwright, Shirley Reynolds, Judy Martin, and Bettie Cartwright; and brothers, Billy Cartwright, Darrell Cartwright, and Jimmy Cartwright.
Survivors include her daughters, Teresa (Marvin) Mefford, Terry (Johnny) Ashley, and Tammy (David) Goff; grandchildren, Brock (Kasey) Mefford, Jessica (Breyden) Tedders, Elizabeth (Chase) Berry, Magnum (Stacie) Goff, Tristan (Sarah) Goff, Bronson (Hope) Goff, and Jacob (Elizabeth) Mayes; great-grandchildren, Jase, Mia, Sadie, Hadley, Parker, Kollyns, Baby Mayeson expected soon, Reece, Callum, and Addy; brother, Johnny (Margaret) Cartwright; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday April 19, 2024 at 1 p,m, at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home with Bro. Tom Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Mud River Union Cemetery.
