Bro. Grover Cleveland Gibson, 99, of Morton’s Gap, died Monday, December 12, 2022 at Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home in Madisonville. Born August 15, 1923 in Hopkins County, the son of Luther Powell Gibson and Blanche Mae Burden Gibson. He was a Pentecostal pastor and was a coal miner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Clara Sneed Gibson, his second wife Rachel Pearl Gibson, five brothers and sisters Luther Powell Gibson, Jr. John Gibson, Freda Gibson, Wanda Gibson Williams, and Frances Guanella.
Survivors include his wife, Flora Bell Majors Gibson of Morton’s Gap; son, Bobby Cleveland Gibson of Madisonville; daughter, Peggy Haggard Vanover of Sacramento; step son, Gilbert Brown of Dawson Springs; one granddaughter; two step granddaughters; one great granddaughter; five step great grandchildren; nine step great-great grandchildren; brothers, Fred Gibson of Owensboro, and Doug Gibson of Henderson; sisters, Barbara Holeman of Henderson, and Ruthie Burden of Augusta, Ga.
Funeral services will be Thursday, December 15 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, with Rev. Jerry Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery in Madisonville. Friends may call after 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 15 at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
