BELTON – On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky in Owensboro, Yvonne M. Travis “Mamaw Von” went home to be with the Lord and was reunited with her sons, Jason and David. Her heart had long ached for them, and now, in Heaven, that longing has been answered. Together, they dwell in God’s presence, where there is no pain, only everlasting peace. Born in Muhlenberg County on August 29, 1954, to Roy and Imogene Miller, Yvonne lived a life marked by joy, faith, and deep love for others. She had a radiant personality that filled every room with laughter and light. Known as the life of the party, she loved dancing on the beach, bringing fun and energy wherever she went, and creating connection—whether through starting a Bunco group that led to lifelong friendships or gathering people simply by being herself. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life and never wavered. After the devastating loss of both of her sons, Yvonne clung to God for strength and comfort, leaning fully into her faith and trusting Him through unimaginable grief. She loved telling others about Jesus and sharing how good He had been to her, living out her faith with authenticity and joy. Yvonne enjoyed riding horses and attending Wrangler’s Camp with friends, planting flowers, feeding her hummingbirds, and taking countless photos of them at her feeders. She loved to travel, RV camping, and riding the wagon with her husband, Neal Travis, whom she married on October 3, 2009. A lifelong learner, Yvonne attended Western Kentucky University, and spent 25 years teaching to children with patience, enthusiasm, and a firm but loving presence. She was never afraid to use her well-known “teacher voice,” a trait fondly remembered by students and family alike. Yvonne taught at Hughes Kirk and Muhlenberg South Elementary School, leaving a lasting impact on generations of students. Above all, she wanted to be known as “Mamaw Von”—a name she asked everyone to use, including her nurses and support team. She was Aunt Von to many, and she had a special gift for making everyone feel like they were her favorite. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Imogene Miller; her brother, Roy MillerJr.; her beloved sons, Jason and David Blake, and her fur baby Raskel.
Survivors include her loving family: Husband Neal Travis; step-children Jamie (Serena) Travis, Jeff (Deann) Travis, and Joey (Amanda) Travis; grandchildren Shane (Becca) Blake, Megan (Paiton) Revlett, Taylor (Trent) Arnold, Jenna (Trenton) Johnson, Kari (Crew) Travis, Mason (Ashton) Travis, Morgan (Dalton) Stanley, Emily Travis, Drew Travis, Lucas Travis, Dalton Marsala, and Olivia Marsala; great-grandchildren Oliver Blake and Tucker Arnold and brother Tim (Jeanie) Miller; and daughters-in-law Susie Blake and Angie Sampson.
“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.”— John 16:22
