“Winnie” Fay Brown Greene

GREENVILLE- “Winnie” Fay Brown Greene, age 88, of Greenville, Kentucky, passed away at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana.

Fay was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 46 years, Roy Allen Greene, the love of her life; her parents, Ethel Marie Wiggins Brown and James Engler Brown, of Cherry Hill and Bremen, Kentucky; her brother, James Calvin “Jimmy” Brown; her nephew, James Freeman Brown; and her niece, Anna Marie Brown.

She is survived by her niece, Kay (James) Culver; her great-nieces, Roxana (Michael) Guy, Dana Brown, and Kristi (Seth) Harris; and her great-great-nephews, Jaiden and Liam Guy. She is also survived by her cousins, Mary Helen Whitmer, Ray (Patty) Warren, and Jerry (Elizabeth) Wiggins, along with a host of extended family, friends, neighbors, and a deeply supportive community.

Fay worked faithfully in clerical positions throughout her life at Lawton’s, Kentucky Utilities, and Trover Clinic. After retiring, she embraced the simple joys of life—spending time in homemakers, quilting with the Quilters Guild, and enjoying fellowship through the Red Hat Society.

She loved traveling extensively. In her mid-60s, she began exploring the world, visiting over 54 countries, traveling to 49 states, and experiencing nearly every continent. Her favorite trip was to Hawaii, where she shared special time with her sweetheart, Roy—a memory she cherished deeply.

Fay was known for her wit, her humor, and her deep joy for life. There was a quiet strength in her—a subtle grace and a sense of pride in taking care of herself that never went unnoticed. People were naturally drawn to her presence. She spoke her mind without fear, yet carried a heart full of compassion, always ready to forgive and move forward without holding on to the past.

A faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville, Fay lived out her faith daily—not just in what she believed, but in how she loved and treated others.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to those who cared for Fay with compassion and consistency, especially Tammy Burden, Brittany Burden-Hilburn, and Mandy Wright-Hilburn, along with many others who supported her along the way.

The family wants to leave this reminder: the most important part of a life is not just the dates on a tombstone, but the dash between them—that space where a life is truly lived and God is served. Fay lived that dash fully, faithfully, and with love until her very last breath.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 2:00PM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Bob Thurman officiating. Burial will follow at Bethlehem Cemetery in Bremen, Kentucky. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 24, 2026 from 10:00AM-2:00PM at the funeral home. Online condolences can be held at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
