BROWDER- Willie Ottis Mefford, 90, of Browder, died Friday, July 5, 2024 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital. Born June 9, 1934 in Muhlenberg County. He was a coal miner for Peabody Coal. Mr. Mefford was also a veteran of the United States Army. He enjoyed golf, gardening, woodworking, UK basketball, hunting and watermelon growing. Mr. Mefford loved his family known to all as “Pa Ottis”. He was preceded in death by his parents D.L. and Mayetta Mefford; Brother, Buck Mefford; and Two sisters, Sue Beasley and Dorothy Baker.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Morphew Mefford; Children, Marty (Darlene) Mefford, Sandra (John) Gootee, Johnny (Faith Anne) Mefford; Grandchildren, Courtney (Josh) Phelps, Macy (Blake) Boggess, Jacob (Hannah) Groves, Carter Mefford, Cole (Cynthia) Gootee, Grant Mefford; great-grandchildren, Kennedy, Ruger and Axel Phelps, Brice and Henry Boggess, Wren Groves; Sister, Joyce Wester; Brother, Leamon Mefford.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Tucker Beechmont Funeral Home in Beechmont with Bro. Robert Lindsay officiating. Burial will be at Forest Grove Cemetery.
