CENTRAL CITY – William Cauldell Hayes, 95, of Central City, died Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at his home. Born October 29, 1925, in Muhlenberg County. He was a tipple operator at P & M Coal Company, a member of Cherry Hill Baptist Church and a U.S. Army veteran. He loved to attend church. He loved trucks, cars, and was someone that could never rest. He enjoyed staying active and busy. He was preceded in death by his father, Louis Hayes; and mother, Alice Hayes.
Survivors include his wife, Bonnie Riley Hayes; son Billy (Vanessa) Hayes of Greenville; grandchild Stacy Williams; great-grandchildren Madison Williams, Mallory Williams, Haydan Arnett, and Brock Arnett; great-great-grandchild Rowen Thomas; step-grandchildren Heather (Tony) Wester and Chris (Misty) Sampson; step-great-grandchildren Jordan (Lauren) Sampson, Emma Sampson, Braxton Wester, and Katelyn Wester; brother-in-law John (Francis) Riley and their children, Scott and David Riley.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 6, 2020, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Leroy Rearden officiating. Burial will follow in Shavers Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday after 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Family and friends who are attending the visitation or funeral service are asked to wear a face mask for the safety of all those in attendance, in accordance with the governor’s mandate.
