GREENVILLE – William Donald Rice, 88, of Greenville passed away June 10, 2025, at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital in Owensboro. Born in Muhlenberg County February 4, 1937, the son of the late William Jesse Rice and Brooksie Irene Wells. He faithfully served as a deacon, choir leader, and Sunday school teacher at Orange Grove General Baptist Church. He was also in several quartets throughout his life. His love for singing and attending church was a constant joy in his life. Above all, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville, officiated by Bro. Jerry Sweeney, assisted by Bro. Autry Moore. Burial will follow in Greens Chapel Church Cemetery in Greenville. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Timothy Rice.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Carole Sue Rice of Greenville; one son, Dwight Alan (Robin) Rice of Greenville; five Grandchildren, Leslye (Craig) Patton of Owensboro, Derek Rice of Greenville, Holly Renae Cobb of Central City, Michael Rice of Booneville, Ind. and Nathaniel Rice of Murray; four Great Grandchildren, Alyvia Cobb of Central City, Keydon Cobb of Central City, Bryson Rice of Greenville and Nolan Patton Owensboro and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Friday, June 13, 2025 at Gary’s Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at 2:00 p.m.
