OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – Wendell Joe Jernigan, 89, of Old Hickory, Tenn. passed away Monday, September 16, 2024 at Charter Senior Living in Hermitage, Tenn. Born June 24, 1935 in Muhlenberg County, the son of Shell Jernigan and Mable Pearl Foley Jernigan. He had been a service manager for Western Auto.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers, eight sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Greenville with Rev. Tom Stovall officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Barbara Sears Jernigan of Old Hickory, Tenn.; two daughters, Linda Jernigan of Shelbyville, Tenn., Diana (Mark) Cunningham of Old Hickory, Tenn.; one grandson, Eric Seal; one granddaughter, Rhianna Williams; one great granddaughter, Emma Rose Cooper; two sisters, Betty Benningfield of Hodgensville, Ky., Janice Grace of Greenville; one sister-in-law, Judy Lane Jernigan of Greenville, several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews
