GREENVILLE – Vonda Venetta Groves, 95, of Greenville, passed away on Thursday, April 23, 2026 at Maple Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville, Kentucky, surrounded by her family. She was born on August 5, 1930 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Raymond Jefferson Vincent and Velvie Yates Vincent. She was a Supervisor at Cowden Sewing Factory and co-owner of a fabric store in Greenville. She was a member of New Cypress Baptist Church, having been baptized in Pond River. She was an excellent seamstress, dressmaker and quilter. Vonda was a fantastic cook, with one of her specialties being English Toffee. She was an avid Yard Sale fan, loved her family and enjoyed those she met along the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William Harold Groves, and her siblings, Fred Vincent, Frankie Vincent, Raymond Lee Vincent, Earl Vincent, Danny Vincent, Farrell Vincent, Opal Bush, Joyce Vincent and Agnes Mitchell.
Graveside services will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at 2:00pm at New Cypress Cemetery, officiated by Bro. Byron Groves. Gary’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Mrs. Groves and her family.
She is survived by a daughter, Diann (John) Anderson of Elberfeld, IN; two grandsons, Wes (Debbie) Finley of Poplar Bluff, MO, and Jonathon Brett (Amy) Finley of Greenville, KY; a great granddaughter, Hannah (Jack) Erbland of Springfield, MO; Sisters, Sue Jarvis, Owensboro, Ky and Linda Wade, Shelbyville, Ky.; brothers, Ralph (Marilyn) Vincent, Richland, Maine and Paul (Carolyn) Vincent, Greenville, Ky.
