GREENVILLE – Venty Mayes (Wijaya), 45, of Greenville, Kentucky, passed peacefully into the arms of her Savior on Sunday, June 21, 2026, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, surrounded by the love of her family and friends after a courageous battle with cancer.
Venty was born on November 22, 1980, in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, to Denny Wijaya and Martina Susanto. She attended St. Joseph 1 Elementary School and St. Thomas 1 Middle and High School before earning her degree in International Business from Murray State University, graduating Summa Cum Laude. She was employed by Optum as a Medical Billing Specialist.
Though intelligent and accomplished, Venty’s greatest joy was never found in titles or achievements. It was found in the life she built with her husband, John, and the family she loved with her whole heart.
Venty was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a faithful daughter, and a cherished sister. She loved Jesus deeply and was a faithful member of Second Baptist Church in Greenville, Kentucky. She lived her faith quietly but powerfully through kindness, humility, and service to others.
She found joy in caring for her home and family and took great pride in creating a warm, welcoming place for those she loved. She delighted in finding a good bargain and loved buying and selling treasures, always excited to share her latest find with family and friends.
Venty was an old soul with a gentle spirit. She loved listening to the stories of older generations and treasured their wisdom. She adored her parents, cherished her siblings, and treasured every moment spent with her children. She had a gift for making people feel seen, heard, and valued. She never sought attention or praise, yet her warmth and compassion left an impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
To know Venty was to love her.
Even through the hardships of her illness, she faced each day with courage, grace, and unwavering faith. Cancer may have touched her body, but it never diminished her kindness, her love for others, or her trust in God.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Mayes; her children, Jonathan, Martin, Hedy, and Fran Mayes; her parents, Denny Wijaya and Martina Susanto; her parents-in-law, Clyde and Jackie Mayes; her siblings, Juniaty Turner and husband David Turner, and their son Oliver Turner; Wirawan Wijaya, and Wirawati Wijaya; her sister-in-law, Lena Ward and husband Brian Ward, and their children Adalyn, Wyatt, and Ashlyn Ward; her sister-in-law, Emma Haggerty and husband Rick Haggerty; along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will cherish her memory forever.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that Venty is whole, healed, and at peace in the presence of her Savior. Her life was a beautiful testimony of faith, love, and quiet goodness. The legacy she leaves behind is not measured by years, but by the countless lives she touched and the love she gave so freely.
She lived a life of quiet goodness—loving deeply, serving faithfully, and making the world a gentler place simply by being in it.

Visitation services for Venty Mayes will be held from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Tucker Funeral Home, located at 113 North Third Street, Central City, Kentucky 42330.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Dr. Kevin Milburn officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Woodland Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 201 Woodland Road, Greenville, Kentucky 42345. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial contributions to support John and the children during this season of loss. Venty devoted her life to loving and caring for her family, and her greatest joy was found in the home she built and the people she cherished most.
