Sylvester (Sly) Lewis Johnson

Greenville- Sylvester (Sly) Lewis Johnson, 46,  passed away Friday,  July 16, 2021 at his residence. Born June 15, 1975 in Greenville, he was a member of  Duvall’s Chapel General Baptist Church, 275 State Route 2533, Greenville and was employed by Cracker Barrel in Madisonville. He also served on the Greenville City Council. Sly graduated from Muhlenberg South High School where he was best known for being the school mascot the “Soulman”.  Following high school, he attended Madisonville Community College, he had a heart to serve and he loved all people.  He spent his life giving in any capacity that he could.  He never met a stranger. If he met you once, he called you friend. He was loved by many.  He wore many titles that include son, brother, uncle, coach, mentor, friend….and now some are calling him a legend. As the songwriter penned “your candle burned out long before your legend ever will”. Sylvester Johnson will forever live-in the hearts of many.
