GREENVILLE – Steve G. Rector, 70, of Greenville, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at his residence. Born February 17, 1955, in Muhlenberg County, the son of the late Arliss Lyndell and Marjorie Nell Buchannan Rector. He was a very talented guitarist and a vital part of the Merle Travis thumb-picking family. He enjoyed making music with his friends and others in the community. He was a former member of the Kentucky Arts Council and a Kentucky Colonel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Linda Rector, and a nephew, Koda Rector.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Shelia Rector; two sons, Chad (Laquita) Rector and Matthew (Lacie) Arnett; two daughters, Jennifer (Brad) Story and Stephanie (Billie) Renfrow; eight grandchildren; one brother, Eddie (Carol) Rector and one niece.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Gary’s Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Steven Rector.
