Shirley Markwell, 88 of Central City, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Auburn Health Care.
She was born Sunday, July 24, 1938, the daughter of the late Jesse James “Jimmy” Snodgrass and the late Olevia J. Jones Snodgrass. She was the wife of the late William Ode Markwell.
She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lewisburg. Shirley devoted most of her days to providing companionship to older adults.
Surviving are son, James Ode “Bo” Markwell of Murray, KY; sister, Nell Meguiar of Auburn, KY; seven granddaughters; five grandsons; many great grandchildren as well as many great-great-grandchildren.
Shirley was preceded in death by three daughters, Shelia Ann Baum, Shirley Jean Reed, Debra Faye Markwell; son, Roger Dale Markwell; sister, Stella Douglas; brother, Joseph Delmer “Bud” Snodgrass.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Price Funeral Home, Inc. located at 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg; with Bro. Larry Eaton officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 9:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday at Price Funeral Home, Inc.
