BEECHMONT – Shelia Gail Piper (VanNaarden), 68, of Beechmont, died Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 2:10PM at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. Mrs. Piper was born April 22, 1957, in Muhlenberg County. She was a CNA. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Dorothy Piper; and siblings, Barbara Troutman, Barry Piper, and Joe Piper.
She is survived by her husband, Roger VanNaarden; children, Erica (Troy Blake) Gunterman and Chad (Wendy Lear) Gunterman; grandchildren, Austin Jones, Dylan Durall, Abbi Gunterman, Sierra Gunterman, Lucas Gunterman, and Aubrey Gunterman; great-grandchildren, Caysen Jones and Elijah Saulsberry; and siblings, Danny and Brenda Piper of Tennessee, Janice and Melvin Warner of Illinois, Sue Yates of Tennessee, Jeannie Ward and Arthur of Henderson, Evelyn and Jackie Brooks of Greenville, Jeff and Cathy Piper of Powderly, Beverly and Jack Cates of Owensboro, and Dee and Melissa Piper of Central City.
Funeral services will be Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 11:00AM at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with Rev. Ron Noffsinger officiating. Burial in Miller Cemetery in Cleaton. Visitation will be Friday from 5-8PM and Saturday after 8:00AM at the funeral home.
