HOPKINSVILLE – Shelby Garrett, 82, of Hopkinsville, passed away Monday, November 25, 2024 at Hospice of Southern Kentucky in Bowling Green. Born June 1, 1942 in Greenville, the daughter of the late Elmer Ray and Linda Lenora Cabbage Gossett. She. Owned and operated Shel’s Beauty Shop and also worked at Freudenberg Nonwovens, C&F Stamping, Faultless, Phelps Dodge and the Shoe Factory. She was a Kentucky Colonel. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Vivian Lee Jarvis.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy Garrett of Foley, Ala.; daughter, Lisa Wadley of Hopkinsville; brother, Alan Gossett of Greenville; sister, Faye Hankla of Perryville; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, November 27, 2024 at 12 p.m. at Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home with Paul Moore officiating. Burial followed in Rosewood Community Cemetery, Greenville. Maddux-Fuqua-Hinton Funeral Home was entrusted by the family to handle the arrangements.
