Sarah Elizabeth Casebier

GREENVILLE – Sarah Elizabeth Casebier went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 10, 2023, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.  Born on September 2, 1981, to David and Sherry (Burke) Casebier. She was a member of Duvall’s Chapel Baptist Church.  With God’s help and grace, she and her parents spent much of her 41 years battling cystic fibrosis. She had the gift of a lung transplant at the age of 28.   Sarah Beth was never afraid because she knew God was in control.  She also had no fear because she was always surrounded by her large loving family.

Sarah Beth had a kind and caring nature that everyone could feel and people responded to this gentleness in kind. Sarah was courageous in her fight.  Sarah Beth saw beauty in everything.  She had a zest and love for her family, small animals, plants and many of the simple things that most people take for granted.

Sarah Beth loved and cared for her cats—Mommy Cat, RuRu, and Kitten.  They were her babies.  She told people her Mom and Dad that her cats were her best friends and she cherished them as they did her.

Sarah Beth loved gardening.  She loved beautiful flowers.  She and her mother transformed their backyard each Spring with a variety of plants, flowers, water and rock features.  She looked forward to the plant exchange at the Ag Center each year.  She also loved to share cuttings and plant “extras” with close friends so they could enjoy them too.

Sarah also loved crafting.  Her Mom was her crafting buddy. Her idea of a fun weekend night was to go to Hobby Lobby and find ideas and crafts to work on. Her parents always accompanied her on this adventure and indulged her with all sorts of crafting goodies.  Her Dad would go with them on these outings and get his walking in. Sarah always shared her beautiful cards and craft creations with other members of her family.

Sarah’s number one happiness was to be with her family.  She used any occasion as a celebration.  Sarah Beth’s family knew she was a gift to them from God.  Her loving family worked and planned to have family celebrations whenever possible—every birthday, holiday, of even made up days to celebrate.   Even with all of her health obstacles, Sarah Beth loved and enjoyed everything and she knew that life should be a celebration because it is a gift. We as her family know that she is finally free to only enjoy and celebrate without pain and sickness. Her loving cousin summed it up best—“Forever Young”; she will be forever young, healed and surrounded by Heaven’s beauty.   Till we meet in Heaven—Breathe.

She was preceded in death by her grandfathers, J.L. Burke and Conis Casebier; grandmother, Ganell Casebier; and uncles Les Jewell and Wayne Hall, and special uncle Jimmy Burke.

She is survived by her parents, David and Sherry Casebier; grandmother, Christine Burke; aunts, Becky Hall, Vickie (R.C.) Evans, Jonie Jewell, and Cathy Baker.

Graveside funeral services will be Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Grove Cemetery, with Bro. Jeremy Wagner officiating. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Muhlenberg County Humane Society or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation: Home | Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org).  Tucker Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
