Sammy Lee Maxwell, 76, of Owensboro, formerly of Greenville, died Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Chautaugua Health and Rehabilitation in Owensboro. Born December 12, 1946 in Owensboro, the son of Charles Lee Maxwell and Nola Martha Dukes Maxwell. He was a member of Roland Memorial Baptist Church and had worked at Clardy Grocery as a stock person and gas attendant.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers Wendol Maxwell and Jerry Maxwell.   Â
Survivors include his sisters, Patty Jones of Evansville, Ind. and Kay Thompson of Owensboro; a sister-in-law; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 6, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. Ron Metheny officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville. Visitation will Thursday, July 6 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home.
