Richard Eugene “Gene” Haire, Sr., age 78, of Henderson, KY passed away, Wednesday, November 4, 2020, at home under the care of St. Anthony’s Hospice surrounded by the love of his family. In addition to his parents William and Margaret Haire, Gene was preceded in death by his siblings: Otis “Bud” Haire, Carol Proctor, and Charles Franklin Haire. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Navy in the early 1960s. He later worked for the City of Henderson as a heavy equipment operator and a member of Mt. Zion General Baptist Church for many years before more recently joining Advance Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Goldie Haire; daughters: Kristi Robinson of Central City, KY, Sheila Ciccone of Vero Beach, Fla., and Loretta Scott of Henderson; sons, Richard Haire, Jr. and Alan Butler of Henderson, KY; sisters: Myrna Thomason of Ditmer, Mo., Martha Brown of Reed, Ky. and Cathy Morris from Zion, Ky.; brothers, Roy Haire of Reed and Rev. J. W. Haire of Bremen; nine grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service was held Monday, November 9, 2020, at 12:00 p.m. at Benton-Glunt & Tapp Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Skipworth officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Reed, Ky. Military honors were rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post #40. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to St. Anthony’s Hospice, 2410 S.
