GREENVILLE – Priscilla Ann Skipworth McDonald, 85, went home to be with her Heavenly Father Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at her residence. Born in Rosewood, on July 29, 1939 to the late Eula Ann Horn and Lonnie Skipworth. She married the love of her life, Jim Clay McDonald, on May 4, 1960, the same year she graduated from The Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse. Jim and Pris lived in Monterey, Ky. until 1969, where she started her nursing career at Owen County Hospital, then moved to Greenville, and started a life that brought them much happiness. Priscilla worked at Muhlenberg Community Hospital for 30 years and retired in 2002. Jim and Pris were married for 58 years and loved every minute of their life together..
Priscilla loved her family and her friends and was an eternal optimist. She saw the good in most every situation and showered those she loved with that optimism and encouragement. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Greenville for almost 50 years and loved her church and church family with all her heart. She sang in the Sanctuary Choir for many years, served on Committee 2000, which planned and oversaw the construction of the Christian Life Center, and volunteered in any capacity she was ever needed. Priscilla was full of life, loved taking walks, participating in Yoga, and was willing to try most anything to stay active. She was an avid reader and many times would get lost in a good book and read it all the way through in a days’ time. Priscilla loved traveling, thrifting, sight-seeing and saw the beauty in all of God’s creation. Her greatest joy came from time spent with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her greatest loves, and her life was the happiest when they were all together.
Priscilla was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Clay McDonald, her parents Eula Ann Horn and Lonnie Skipworth, and a sister and brother-in-law, Mavis and Lee Roy Vincent.
Survivors include her two daughters Kim (Tommy) Watkins, and Sabrina Free, four grandchildren Clay (Katie) Watkins, Alex (Lauren) Watkins, Andrew (Sarah) Free and Rachel Free, four great- grandchildren Emma, Ella, Easton and Malone Watkins, a sister and brother-in-law Joyce and Richard DeWitt, a sister and brother-in-law Gail and Tommy Holliman, several very loved nieces and nephews and her very special lifelong friends June Daugherty, and Jan Tate. We would also like to say a very special thank you to her companions for the past several months, who became like family to her and all of us, Jo Cooper, Cammie McIntosh, Tonya Everett, and Pat Hilliard.
Visitation will be at Greenville First Baptist Church Sanctuary, Friday, November 29, 2024 from 10 a.m. – 12 noon with her service beginning at 12 noon with Dr. John Galyen officiating. Gary’s Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Greenville.
