Paul Todd

CENTRAL CITY – On August 3, 2023, Paul Todd, 75, of Central City, passed away peacefully while at home with his beloved wife Sue (Armour).

Paul and Sue were married in 1968 after meeting at the Central City Christmas Parade.  Following spending time in North Carolina during Paul’s military service, they returned to Central City, which they called home ever after, and raised their devoted daughter Heather.

In a word, Paul was “loving,” and his love of family, people, and passion for laughter drove all his interactions.  His zest for life and being with those he loved marked the highest times every single day for him.  With a remarkable sense of humor and a never-ending supply of jokes, he loved nothing more than bringing a smile and a chuckle to everyone he met.  From early in life, Paul was an avid fisherman that would enjoy time in a boat or on the bank with any friends or family.  He participated in archery and bowling leagues together with Sue when they first married.  Attending UK basketball games with Frankie, watching sports on television with Gary, requesting a favorite food from Ashlee, and helping with a fish fry or shrimp boil were among the ways he enjoyed life and those he shared it with.  “Paul Paul” as the kids called him, loved making memories with the littlest members of the family, especially his little buddy Rylan.

With Sue, he shared a love for canine companions; his favorite was Kirby.  As an animal lover, this was an important part of his life.  Through the years there was a variety of pets brought into the home by Sue, but found their place nestled in Paul’s lap.

Paul loved his church.  Cherry Hill Missionary Baptist was his home, and Brother Leroy Rearden was his friend.  At a service, you could always count on seeing Paul dressed in his Sunday best, awaiting to receive you with a smile, a joke, and a warm handshake that held a piece of candy to give you.  Paul was a man committed to his faith.

A Purple Heart recipient and Veteran of the United States Marines and the Vietnam War, Paul loved his country and was proud of his service.  He was born to Franklin Pierce and Eva Sprinks Todd on February 22, 1948, in Greenville, Kentucky.  He attended Muhlenberg Central High School and worked at Coal Electric for 27 years after his military service.
