CENTRAL CITY – Paul Bennett Clemons, Jr., 89, of Central City, died Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 3:02 p.m. under the care of Hospice of Western Kentucky. Born September 2, 1935, in Muhlenberg County. He was a dragline and shovel operator, working as a coal miner for UMWA. He was of the Baptist faith and a Mason. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving for four years. He grew up with and married his high school sweetheart, Ann, on September 12, 1959. He and Ann loved to travel and fish on their pontoon. In his later years, everything revolved around his family. He enjoyed picking on his family members and his closest friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Corine Clemons; brothers, James Clemons and Billy Clemons; sister, Bonnie Noble; son, Michael L. Clemons; and son-in-law, Chris Meister.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ann Varnell Clemons; daughter, Lori Meister; son, Greg (Tina) Clemons; sister, Helen Luke; grandchildren, Jennifer (Davey) Douglas, Josh (Kaleigh Welborn) Meister, Chad (Kristina) Clemons, and Whitney Sparks; great-grandchildren, Ben Scott, Hunter Sparks, Brooklyn Clemons, Henley Sparks, Clara Meister, and Kamden Meister; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City, with David Anderson officiating. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.tuckerfuneralhomes.com.
