It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Edwin Jenkins, who died peacefully in his residence, surrounded by loved ones, Wednesday, October 29, 2025 at the age of 77. Born January 14, 1948 in Greenville, to Edwin and Dovie Jenkins. He attended both Greenville and Muhlenberg Central High Schools, and Madisonville Community College as a non-traditional student.
Mike had many careers, including work for Peabody Coal, Big Rivers, and Flynn. He was an accomplished mechanic and anyone who knew him knew that he could fix anything. As a jack-of-all-trades, Mike also owned and operated a lawn mower repair shop and a successful registered Boer goat ranch with his wife, Mariga.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Wayne; an infant son, Brian Lamont; and a granddaughter, Jessy Jenkins.
Mike was a dedicated husband to Mariga, his loving wife and best friend of almost 29 years. He was a devoted father to seven children, Michelle Riffel of Greenville; Audra (Cliff) Baumert of Destin, Fla.; Chris (Shaela) Cook of Tempe, Ariz.; Melissa (Scott) Talbot of Greenville; Morgan (Brodie) Fitzhugh of Lexington; Carson Jenkins of Greenville; and Grayson Cody (Heide) Jenkins of Lexington. Mike was also a proud papaw to ten grandchildren: Erin, Ellee, Erika, Jessy, Logan, Kaylee, Emma, Anna, Murray Jean, and Marshall.
Mike truly never met a stranger and his sense of humor, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family will never be forgotten.
In keeping with Mike’s wishes, there will be a private memorial with family but no visitation. Gary’s Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
