Mattie Knight Barnes, 87 of Lewisburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, November 12, 2023. Born Friday, May 15, 1936, the daughter of the late Richard “Edd” Knight and the late Maggie Dobbs Knight. She was the wife of the late John “Jack” Barnes.
Being a homemaker she loved to cook and feed anyone who stopped by often telling them “if you leave here hungry it’s your own fault.” She was known as mamaw to the lights of her life, nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Her favorite past time was baseball especially the world series and the Astros. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by six brothers Judge, Roy, Oscar, Buck, Tom, James; six sisters, Illa, Edna, Mae, Lucey, Marie, and Elsie.
Survivors include three daughters Ann Barnes of Graham, Debbie (Donnie) Stevens of Cadiz, Anna (Mike) Lindsey of Auburn; four sons John Barnes of Dunmor, Raymond Barnes of Lewisburg, Jody Barnes of Lewisburg, and Terry (Frankie) Barnes of Mortons Gap; three sisters-in-law Jonell Rolley of Greenville, Geneva Schultz of Dunmor, and Shirley Wenmoth of Manchester, Ind,; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Price Funeral Home, Inc., 252 E. Green St., Lewisburg with Bro. Stony Hildabrand officiating. Brutal will follow in Wyatt Chapel Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Wednesday at Price Funeral Home, Inc.
