Mary Carolyn Hill, 81, of Greenville, died Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Owensboro Health Muhlenberg Community Hospital in Greenville. Born March 16, 1941 in Muhlenberg County, the daughter of Norman Tyson and Sybil Wells Tyson. She was of the Missionary Baptist faith and a member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. She had worked for the Muhlenberg County Board of Education as a Kindergarten aide and an aide at the Board of Education office. Mary was truly a generous, kind, and loving woman who enjoyed cooking and baking special cakes for her many friends and family. She loved tending her many beautiful flowers and plants. During the past few years, her heart’s joy came from family gatherings on holidays and from watching her great and great-great grandchildren grow. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Doris Ann Tyson.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years James Warren Hill of Greenville; sons, James ‘Kenny’ Hill of Greenville and John ‘Craig’ Hill of Greenville; grandchildren, Jessica Garrett (Corey Gregory), Ashley (Lucas) Stovall, ​​​​​​and Wendy Hill; great-grandchildren, Alex Sorrels, Chloe Goins, Cooper Garrett, ​​​​​Madison, Makayla, and Hadley Stovall, and Danton Rolley; great-great grandchild, Bentlee Sorrels; sister, Brenda Sue Richardson; nephew, Richard ‘Richie’ Latham; numerous other nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville officiated by Rev. John Day of Carter Creek Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Greenville. Visitation for family and friends will be Thursday, June 9 from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville.
