CENTRAL CITY – Lonnie Edward Melton, 76, of Central City, died Thursday, August 24, 2023 under the care of Hospice of Western KY in Owensboro. Born September 25, 1946 in Hopkins County, he attended Richardson Chapel General Baptist Church. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Wood Melton; parents, Granville Melton and Bessie Lee Mitchell Melton; and three brothers, James Melton Jr., Judson Melton, Roy Haire.
Survivors include his children, Linda (Chris) Taylor of Franklin, Tenn., Teresa (Ken Stout) Rogers of Bowling Green, Sandra Griffith of Central City, Janice Murphy of Central City, and Buddy (Tina) Griffith of Central City; grandchildren, Stephanie (Adam) Graves, Hannah (Austin) Burt, Ethan Taylor, Ted Rogers, Rebecca Rogers, Erin Tompkins, Natasha Beckham, Katie Rogers, Justin (Lana) Fleming, Levi (Alexa) Murphy, Amber (Curtis) Fox, Makayla (Adam) Harvey, and Mikey Griffith; great-grandchildren, Sophie, Baylor, Brynley, Hazel, Bristol, Duncan, Ryan, Abbigail, Robbie, Tori, Isaiah, Noah, Lia, Mayson, Camdyn, Bailey, Liv, Tatum, Allison, Bentley, Oliver “Ollie Bug”, and Elijah; extra special niece, Lisa Melton; and several other nieces and nephews; and sister, Dean Hopper.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 28, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Tucker Funeral Home in Central City with Bro. Kevin Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.
