Carmi Ill – John William Tarrants, 71, of Carmi passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022. Born June 2, 1951, the son of Wilbur Layton and Johnnie Irene (Hall) Tarrants. John married Lena Lear on March 10, 1973 and she survives him. He worked at Walmart for 26 years and was store manager at Carmi Walmart. He enjoyed watching Kentucky Wildcat Basketball and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Central City. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bob Tarrants, Eddie Tarrants, Louise McGhee and Dilbert Tarrants.
Survivors include his wife, Lena Tarrants of Carmi Ill.; daughters, Deann (Bill) Horrall of Evansville Ind. and Keri Tarrants of Charleston Ill.; grandchildren, Madyson Barton of Carmi, Ill., Anyston Barton of Norris City, Ill. and Kyston Tarrants of Carmi Ill.; sister, Nancy Pentecost of Owensboro.
A celebration of life service will be held Friday, July 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Central City with Rev. Scott Casebier officiating. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, Ill. is in charge of arrangements.
