John Elmer Bard, 80 of Graham, died Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Heartford House in Owensboro. Born May 8, 1940 in Graham, the son of Robert Kelly Bard and Corinne Pittman Bard. He was a member of the Yeargin’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Graham. He was an Army veteran and was in the Reserves for twenty years. He retired from Whirlpool after 30 years of service. He loved to travel and enjoyed his grandchildren and his dog Molly. He was preceded in death by his parents and an uncle Ernest Pittman.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kay Browning Bard of Graham; step-daughter, Kathy (Tommy) Peyton of Madisonville; grandchildren, Brad (Jessica) Peyton of Hanson, and Hillary (Justin) Lamb of Madisonville; great grandchildren, Addison Peyton, Garrett Peyton, and Booker Lamb; brother, Kelly Bard of Atlanta; nephew, David (Christy) Bard of Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 1 at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville with Rev. David Fullen officiating. Burial will follow in Yeargin’s United Methodist Church Cemetery in Graham. Visitation will be on Saturday, May 1 beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Friends and family attending either visitation or funeral will be required to wear a facial covering and to observe social distancing.
