CENTRAL CITY – Joan Marlene Monaghan, 91, of Central City, died Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 2:30 a.m. at her residence. Born February 22, 1934 in Calumet City, Ill.. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and retired from working at K-Mart. She loved her family, was actively involved with the food pantry ministry at her church, and participated in the Ursuline Sisters Associate. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Patrick Monaghan; and parents, Benjamin and Sophie LaBuda.
Survivors include her two sons, Marty (Kathy) Monaghan, and Jerome (Lisa) Monaghan; two daughters, Marita (Scott) Lowe, and Donna (Tim) Krist; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; and cousin, Dan Dlugonski.
Funeral services will be Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Central City with Father John Ighacho officiating, assisted by Deacon Don Adams. Burial in Fairmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 5-8 p.m. at the church with the Rosary Prayer Service starting at 6 p.m. and Monday from 9-11 a.m. at the church.
