Jerry Wayne Sears, 79, of Clifty, passed away Tuesday April 29, 2025, at Maple Health and Rehabilitation in Greenville. Born in Muhlenberg County January 9, 1946, the son of Coleman Victor Sears and Belva Louise Chandler. He had worked for Phelps Dodge, and was a farmer all his life. In his spare time, he enjoyed to deer hunt and fish. Above all else, he loved the Lord and he was ready to go home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters Joyce Chandler, Martha Ann Pendley, Mellon Jean Skipworth, and Ruth Garrow.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 3, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Gary’s Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in Joines Chapel Cemetery in Muhlenberg County.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Effie Mae Scarbrough Sears of Clifty; Two daughters, Amy (Jason) Wingfield of Rosewood and Valerie (Eric) Powell of Allegre, Ky.; four grandchildren, Logan Smith, Jacob Smith, Abby Powell, and Gabrielle Powell; one Brother, Marvin (Martha) Chandler of Elkton; two Sisters, Jane (Russell) Butler of Clifty and Brenda (Gary) West of Hopkinsville; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. as well as 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 1:00 Pp.m.on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at Gary’s Funeral Home.
